If there is one thing that film studios and television channels like, it is a hit movie. If the first outing of a set of characters makes a connection to its audience, then it will not only sell movie tickets, it will also have an entire line of related merchandise that fans or their parents will go out and purchase. DVDs, Halloween costumes, clothing, shoes, jackets, toys, bedding, school supplies and more can enrich the bottom line of a studio.
Disney is a pro at capturing a particular audience. For example, its Disney Junior line has a lineup of characters that has the preschool set playing Memory games, wearing bathing suits, and carrying backpacks that, over the years, have featured the likes Sheriff Callie, Sofia the First, Elena of Avalor, and Miles from Tomorrowland.
Another jewel in the Disney dynasty is the Disney Channel, which is geared toward the children ages 7-14. What the studio has done successfully for the past two decades is showcase the stars from its most popular shows and feature them in Disney Original Movies. In the summer of 2015, the children’s channel debuted the musical film Descendants, and it was a smash hit. With a cast of familiar faces from shows like Jessie and Liv and Maddie and a great musical score, fans demanded a sequel. It has taken two years to produce, but the wishes of the fans has been granted.
The Plot of Disney Descendants 2
In the first Descendants film, the offspring of some of Disney’s most infamous villains receive the opportunity to go to Auradon Prep, where the offspring of their parents’ protagonists go to school. The questions arise-can this group of teens born to evil parents be trusted? Can their evil ways be turned around? Is it bad to be good? The end of the first film left viewers wondering if the change in some of the characters was a permanent one. They had all turned themselves around…but was it for good?
In the second film, set to debut on Disney Channel on July 21st, has Prince Ben now the king of Auradon. The children of Maleficent, Jafar, the Evil Queen and Cruella de Vil-Mal, Jay, Evie and Carlos-continue to live in the kingdom of Auradon.
However, being good is not easy for Mal, who has been dating King Ben. Under the pressure of going against how she has always known how to live, she flees to her home on the Isle of the Lost. Ben is crushed. Wanting to help him, Carlos, Evie and Jay devise a plan. They create a disguise for Ben so he can return with them to their home to find Mal and bring her back.
While back home, Mal meets up with three of her old friends-Uma, the daughter of Ursula from The Little Mermaid, Harry, the son of Peter Pan’s Captain Hook, and Gil, who is the son of Gaston from Beauty and the Beast. These three are now a power trio who have been ruling the island since the others left. What kind of power struggle will ensue?
And fans will love to know that there will be plenty of music in this movie as well.

Disney Descendants 2 Mal Costume
Mal is the daughter of Maleficent. In the first film, she had a much edgier look. Her pants had rips and the color purple she wore was a few shades darker than the one she now wears. While in the film she starts off with blonde hair, it just is not her and she goes back to her signature purple. The style is different, as she now sports bangs and is also a lighter shade of purple.
Also different about her appearance are her shoes-she is no longer wearing combat boots. Her finger gloves are also purple, a change from the original black she wore in the last film. Will this lighter look also be reflected in her attitude?
Disney Descendants 2 Evie Costume
Evie is the daughter of the Evil Queen from Snow White, the one for whom looks are everything. She passed this onto Evie, and in this film she has a different look as well.
This time around, Evie is also wearing a lighter look than she did in the original film. When we first met Evie, she has a dark cape and wears a deep shade of blue. Even her leggings are black and gray.
Evie is sporting a funky blue jacket that features a bright red heart on the side of the midsection. It has plenty of bright metallic looking accents as well. Her finger gloves are the same bright red as the heart on the jacket, which brings the whole outfit together. There are subtle red marking on the leggings as well.
Disney Descendants 2 Uma Costume
New to the cast is China Anne McClain, from they hit Disney Channel show A.N.T. Farm. She portrays Uma, the daughter of Ursula. She has the look of a pirate, and her signature color blue is the same as the sea. She has become the self-proclaimed queen of the isle and harbors a great big grudge because she was not one of the teens chosen to go to Auradon Prep. She captures Ben when he gets to the isle, and this cause a chain reaction of events.
This Descendants 2 Uma costume has a flowing look like the waves of the ocean. It has purple and gold accents on both the front and the back, as well as black finger gloves. It comes in a variety of sizes.
Disney Descendants Dizzy Costume
Sometimes it is the small players in a film that make a big difference in the plot. One of those characters in Disney Descendants 2 is Dizzy Tremaine. She is the granddaughter of Lady Tremaine, the wicked stepmother in Cinderella. Dizzy has a fantastically positive attitude despite her circumstances. Younger than the others, she truly wants nothing more than to go to Auradon Prep and be one of the good ones.
