Do you know a child who has everything? I know more than a few. When it comes to the latest games, gadgets and technology, many children are far from lacking. If your budget does not permit you to buy expensive technological items, but you have a few children on your gift list, what can you buy them that they don’t already own?
How about a calendar!
But don’t cell phones already have a calendar feature?
Yes, they do, but it is not always helpful. Do you want to encourage children to constantly be on their devices? What if the battery needs recharging? What if they turn it off and forget to turn it back on and the reminders are sitting in the phone unread? And some children are too young for a cell phone or their parents do not want them to own one yet.
The solution to this is to give a child a real live wall calendar featuring their favorite cartoon characters or television or movie stars.
Calendars Keep Kids Organized
We all know people who are a little bit scattered. A calendar helps keep them on track-as long as they look at it! They are an important visual clue for those who require them to stay organized (as the mother of a child with ADHD, having visual cues and organizers is a must have to keep my daughter on track).
Children can use a calendar of their own to write down long-term assignments and chunk down the tasks. A little bit each days means that it will eventually be finished on time.
If a child has a special event, like a birthday party or a special visitor from out of town coming, s/he can mark it down and cross out the days until the big event arrives.
Calendars can also be wall art. One thing that remains constant is that who a child’s favorite character is one year will change when the next big thing comes out. Having a wall calendar is one way to keep up with the latest trends without having to redecorate an entire room. It is an inexpensive update that will keep both parent and child happy.
This is also a gift that does not hang around too long-it is good for a year! Once the year is over, the pictures can be saved for scrapbooking or other art projects,or it can be recycled in order to make room for the new next big thing calendar.

There are some things that technology simply cannot replace. Calendars are one of them!
