Fun Gifts for a Five Year Old Boy

Fun Gifts for a Five Year Old Boy

One of the big joys for young children is celebrating their birthday.  Adults generally don’t greet a new birthday with the same enthusiasm as kids do.    This page has some fun gifts for a five year old boy which are popular today.

Boys enjoy things that stimulate the imagination.   I like to buy things for five year olds that encourage creativity and promote socialization.  Many toys also help kids develop problem solving skills.

Five year old boys like toys based on  characters that kids love.   Big Hero 6 toys are hugely popular these days, with the recent release of the hit movie.  Anything that is fun and also promotes exercise is also good for boys.  Here are some ideas.

Deluxe Flying Baymax with Hiro

Every year features a new Disney movie that is immensely popular with kids.  November of 2014 was the release of Big Hero 6, featuring the adventures of Hiro, Honey Lemon, Baymax and others.  Any toy or game based on one or more of these characters is a good choice for a five year old boy.

Of all the Big Hero 6 merchandise I have seen, this Deluxe flying Baymax with Hiro  is the most impressive.  Some Baymax toys allow the person to remove his armor, but that is not the case with this one.    He is all ready for Super Hero action and to do amazing things based on the child’s imagination.

Baymax does not fly on his own, he must be directed by the child.  However, there is a lot Baymax can do.  He’s a big super hero, about 11 inches tall and his wing span is 18 inches.

Baymax can make several sound effects and light up.  Hiro, who is four and a half inches tall, can ride on his back and this motion activates more sounds.

This is a fun toy for boys and will be a very popular gift item, due to so many kids loving Big Hero and anything to do with Baymax.

Board games are fun and teach kids social skills.   Chutes and Ladders has been around a long time.  This particular one has a Super Hero Squad    theme which boys love.

It features eight well known heroes including Spider Man, Captain America, Thor, The Incredible Hulk, Phoenix, Wolverine, Silver Surfer and the Iron Man.  These characters are the “players” and kids can take turns switching characters.

This game will also teach kids how to count as they move around the board.  This is a fun game suitable for a five year old.

There are two things most kids love to do.  They love to role play and to build things.  The Matchbox Mega Rig Shark Adventure  gives them an opportunity to do both.

Boys won’t get bored with this because there is so much they can do with it.  They can build many different types of boats and vehicles.  They can also play with them on a flat surface or in water.

If you like this idea but would prefer something different for him to build, the Mega Rig toys also feature a  space shuttle,  police car and more.  You can click on the image for more details.

This is a good toy to stimulate a child’s imagination and provide them with a lot of fun.

Lego has been around for decades.  You really can’t go wrong getting anything from this company for kids to enjoy.  This Lego City starter toy building set   is both fun and educational.

It features a fire truck, police car and ambulance, plus the “people” who of course will be doing the rescues.  This is one way for kids to learn how fire fighters, police and emergency workers are here to help and protect us.

A five year old may need some guidance to put the pieces together.  He should  have a lot of fun role playing with this.

Here is a fun gift for a five year old boy that will help them develop problem solving skills and encourage creativity.  The Learning Resources Gears! Gears! Gears!  contains 150 pieces.   The child can play by himself or with others.

There are almost endless possibilities for building with this set.  They can create their own objects and learn basic engineering ideas.  This is good to have to keep a child occupied on a rainy day or on winter days when it  is too cold to be outside for long.

I hope this article has been helpful.  The best part about buying a gift for a child is seeing their delight when they open it.  Kids are always happy to receive new toys.
